Hughley provided some commentary on how his sophomore season went at Cardinal Newman.
“I think it has gone great,” Hughley said. “It was a new environment coming in and I didn’t really know what to expect. The fun part about it is that some of the guys I knew were here, so it was even more fun.”
Hughley stated that Cardinal Newman’s Class 1M-District 5 title game against Benjamin – a 17-14 win at home this past October – was his best one overall on an individual basis. He threw the game-winning touchdown pass to junior athlete Max Redmon on a 16-yarder with 6:43 left in the fourth quarter.
So we ran a skinny post and go on the outside,” Hughley said. “We kept running it so we ran it for the second time and Max seen I was in trouble. So he went on a flat route and I stepped up in the pocket and hit him for the game-winning touchdown.”
