MIAMI GARDENS – Over the past seven years, the Orange Bowl has hosted an annual football showcase for hundreds of high school seniors who want to earn a college football scholarship.
Make tomorrow (Feb. 24) Year 8.
According to a press release from Mike Liotta, who is the Orange Bowl senior director of communications, the showcase is expecting to see approximately 500 student-athletes at St. Thomas University’s football field beginning at around 8:30 a.m.
Presented by Baptist Health, the free event will afford student-athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents through tests and drills, and meet with 40 colleges from across the country for a chance to receive aid or scholarships as they aspire to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level, according to Liotta.
We are expecting to see high school senior student-athletes from the Muck, Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast at this showcase. We will work to highlight each senior from our area as best as we can tomorrow.
Per Liotta’s media press release, the Orange Bowl’s mission and vision is to promote and serve South Florida in order to inspire youth, engage the community and enhance the economy. The Orange Bowl Florida High School Football Showcase meets that mission and vision by providing an opportunity for young student-athletes to use their football and academic skills to attend college and ultimately earn a degree. This effectively has the profound effect of changing young peoples’ lives.
