PAHOKEE – In just a few months, Jenorris Wilcher will be off to college at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
The Pahokee Blue Devils ‘24 athlete originally went with Western Carolina as his next destination. But after weighing a slew of options, he decided to change course.
The recruiting process for Wilcher cleared up quite a bit last month. It started with his offer from The Citadel on Jan. 3, continued with his official visit to the FCS institution on the weekend of Jan. 19-21, and concluded with his verbal commitment to the Bulldogs on Jan. 25.
Wilcher signed his letter of intent with The Citadel at his home and subsequently sent his signature off to school officials on National Signing Day, which was Wednesday, Feb. 7.
You can see the full process right below for yourself.
Wilcher on his decision to go with The Citadel as his college destination:
“The Citadel showed me the most love from Day 1 throughout my recruiting process,” Wilcher said. “Coach [Josh] Jones made a couple stops by the school and my home for me and just kept up with me. Also, I believe The Citadel is a place where i can be developed as a player and a man.”
Wilcher’s official visit to The Citadel was one to remember.
“They made me feel at home,” Wilcher said. “The guys already at the school were welcoming. And also, I got to see the fun side of it outside of football.”
Wilcher spoke on that part.
“It was mainly the other players,” Wilcher said. “It seemed like we’ve met before because how welcoming they were. Basically trying to be big brothers to me. They want me to play with them on the field because they know I can help the program. And also, The Citadel don’t set you up for the next four years, but the next 40 years of your life.”
Wilcher will get to soak up The Citadel college experience with fellow Pahokee ‘24 teammate and defensive back Pierre Fertil, who signed with the college at Pahokee High School on Feb. 7.
“It’s great because I have been playing with him since we were nine years old,” Wilcher said. “We’ve built chemistry on and off the field, just knowing you have somewhere there to hold you accountable when needed.”
Wilcher had a memorable high school football experience, highlighted primarily what he went on to accomplish as a senior.

I wouldn’t change anything, besides winning a state championship,” Wilcher said. “Honestly, I appreciate both programs for everything. Although the schools are fairly close, it’s a huge difference and they showed me two different perspectives on life.”
