ORMOND BEACH — The offense never clicked, and the defense surrendered a pair of back-breaking touchdowns on fourth down. All in all, Seabreeze flag football coach Michael Fries knew his team didn’t play the perfect game needed to beat the No. 4 squad in the state.
Wiskierra Lemene threw four touchdowns and iced Monday’s Region 3-1A final with an interception inside the final two minutes as Belle Glade Glades Central defeated the Sandcrabs, 27-6.
Seabreeze ends the year with a 12-4 record. Glades Central (15-1), a first-time state semifinalist, will face Miami Edison on Saturday in Boca Raton.
“It’s been a great time,” Fries said. “The girls worked their butts off to get where the needed to get, and I can’t ask for a better group. I just feel bad for my seniors. I wish they would have had an opportunity to go down to Boca and get that ring.”
